LunarEclipse_amn
Time exposure of the 2003 May 16 lunar eclipse; The Mercator Telescope building is at left, the WHT in the distance at middle and the LT and its weather mast at right. To make this image, the camera was fixed on a tripod and shutter locked open for three hours while the moon passed through the Earth's shadow. The broad coloured streaks accompanying the moon are internal reflections in the lens, while the thin lines are stars. This was a three-hour exposure taken with a 35mm SLR camera loaded with 200 ASA film and a 24mm wide-angle lens set to f/11.© 2003 J. Marchant (photograph), A. Newsam (post-processing)
