Phase 2:
Programming Observations and Receiving Data

This page is for those astronomers whose proposals have been accepted, and have therefore been awarded time on the LT. Having thus passed the first phase of the application process and been registered as a user, you move on to the next phase ("Phase 2") where you now need to specify in detail the observations you wish the LT to make.

Phase 2 User Interface

Previously, users filled in a form and emailed it to the Support Astronomer, who would then input the observation details to the LT's robotic scheduler via a specific staff-only user interface. For Semester 10A onwards, registered users will enter observation requests using the phase 2 User Interface (phase2UI), an online Java tool to program observation instructions and transmit them directly to the LT.

To start the phase2UI, click this link or press the button below. To help astronomers get used to the new system, a "Getting Started" tutorial is provided, while a full introduction and comprehensive instructions for the new system are also available. As ever, if you have any queries not covered in the tutorial or instructions, please contact LT Phase 2 Support.
